Private Bush Rehabilitation at Wakerley

A classic example of ecological and natural area rehabilitation problem solving, this site had experienced a change in its hydrological regime by surrounding development and has become dryer than its original native vegetation was conditioned to. By increasing the species diversity with appropriate dryer area natives, this gem of a bush block in suburban Wakerly is now set to flourish into the future and become a haven for native animals in the area.

This site of 1.25 hectares is located at 140 Dianthus st., Wakerley.

The involvement from the initial approval stage through to practical completion, gave us the opportunity to contribute to preserve so valuable environment for native wildlife, as Koalas and Water Dragons. Some Interesting facts:

  • Starting project life as a dense Lantana thicket, more that 40 ton of weed material was removed from the site.
  • Previously used as a dumping ground for engineering sheds in the 60’s and 70’s, many tonnes of stainless steel and carbides were removed.
